Adult Sunday School

Beginning at 9:45am each Sunday

Fellowship

(Upper Level Education Building)

Primarily for middle and senior age adults, this class uses a combination of diverse methods to study the Bible.  Lessons are taught in lecture-discussion method by rotating teachers.

St. Andrew's Class

(Upper Level Education Building)

Open to adults of all ages, members of the St. Andrew’s class strive to grow closer to God and to one another by studying God's Word and taking it with them into the secular world. They are continually learning how to allow the Word to be a map unto their feet through the study of contemporary Christian authors.

Onesimus

(Upper Level Education Building)

This class is open to men of all ages and employs group discussion with some lecture surrounding Bible study, topical issues and real-life application of Christian principles.

Women in Christ

(Upper Level Education Building)

This is a class where John Knox women can experience special “fellowship” while exploring a variety of inspirational books and topics. Members share leadership duties, and new books and Bible studies are introduced 2-3 times during the year. Women in Christ members consider this class a supportive extension of Christ’s call to love one another.

Kerygma

(Upper Level Education Building)

The Kerygma class includes people of all ages and walks of life.  Led by a Furman religion professor, the class studies the historical, literary, and religious backgrounds of specific passages of the Bible.  Class members share in lively discussions about the implications of what is learned for modern Christian living.

Serendipity

(Conference Room, Church Office Building)

This class is open to any adult looking for fellowship and a relaxed discussion of scripture.  This group utilizes a discussion format to apply scripture to their daily lives.  The Serendipity model relies on the participation of its members to grow together in their relationships with each other and their faith.  The class goal is best stated from a quotation in the front of the Serendipity Bible…”Serendipity is what happens when two or three get together and share their lives and the Holy Spirit does something beautiful when you least expect it.”

Generation Next

(Upper Level Education Building)

Open to singles or couples who know about and look for support on the struggles that come with family issues. This group is class led and uses God's Word as a road map for guidance through the home, workplace and family. Social events are planned throughout the year.

Koinonia

(Chapel Basement)

Greek for Fellowship, Sharing, and Community

The Koinonia class is full of adults, predominately young families, who welcome anyone who wants to enjoy fellowship and fun in and out of the classroom. The members use facilitated discussions, study books, DVDs, and various learning styles. Family picnics, parties, and other gatherings throughout the year help members stay connected with one another.

Young Couples Groups

DINKS (Dual Income No Kids) and DISKS (Dual Income Some Kids) meet Sunday mornings for fellowship and study.  Social outings are common, with and without kids.  Email/Call Amy Ballard at amycballard@gmail.com (for DISKS) and Josh or Brooke Vickery at 933-3300 (for DINKS) if you need any information.

CIA - Christians in Action - Fellowship Hall

Open to men and women of all ages, this class is composed of married, single, and single again adults whose focus is not only to draw closer to God through study and fellowship but also to reflect His love through mission works within the church and community.  Class members jointly decide on study books and materials and share in facilitating responsibilities which promotes a relaxed, open discussion format.   Emphasis is placed on individual and group involvement in JKPC mission activities as well as other community programs.
