ONGOING MINISTRIES
Stephen Ministry
This confidential ministry equips laypersons to provide distinctly Christian one-on-one care. After undergoing an initial 50 hours of training, Stephen Ministers work together with our pastors to extend Christian care to those who are facing a wide variety of situations, including those who are bereaved, divorced or separated, terminally ill, unemployed, hospitalized, home bound, lonely, experiencing spiritual struggles and more. If you are in need of a Stephen Minister or are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact one of our pastors.
Interfaith Hospitality
As a charter host church for the Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (GAIHN), we host homeless families for one week every 3 months. Members donate their time in 2 hours blocks to greet families, serve meals, play games read stories to a child, or provide conversation. Our adult Sunday School hall is converted into bedrooms, a living area and a dining room. The focus of the ministry is to keep family units intact during this period of need. All families who stay at the church are screened prior to being determined eligible. To participate or to receive more information, please contact the church office.
Habitat for Humanity
Our church continues a vibrant partnership with Habitat for Humanity. John Knox has teamed with other churches in building over seven homes to low-income families in Greenville County. Members are also involved in the local Women Build and Habitat International. Habitat strives to show the love of Christ by helping others help themselves. To participate, please contact the church office.
