For some time now, John Knox has been blessed with two worship services.  While both are similar in some ways, there are a few important differences.  Some people choose between them based on the time of the morning or the size of the gathering.  The styles are unique to each setting, but many people are comfortable with both forms of worship.

8:45 Worship Service
The Early Service offers an informal, intimate atmosphere in the Chapel, at the lower end of our campus.  A blending of familiar hymns and modern Christian music are noted in this service.  The Chalice Choir leads this aspect of worship.  Communion is served by “intinction” with participants coming forward to partake.

11:00 Worship Service
This service, while more formal in format, also enjoys a caring and joyful spirit.  The structure is traditional, including liturgy and music.  Excellent music is supported by the Chancel Choir, accompanied by our exceptional Holtkamp organ.  Guest musicians often enhance this experience during holiday celebrations.  Children, in great number, are central to this service.  The younger ones are dismissed to “Children's Church” following their “Time for Children.”

5:00 The Gathering
Our most recent addition to John Knox worship that strives to "Go Green" offers a less traditional worship experience for John Knox members and friends on Sunday evenings.  This service takes place in our Fellowship Hall on the same level as our main sanctuary.  Though you'll get the same message and be welcomed with the same spirit of fellowship as our two early services, you will hear and participate in a more contemporary style of musical worship.  Also, you'll find more technology and lay leadership at The Gathering.

Special Seasonal Services
John Knox offers additional opportunities for worship during the liturgical year.  The first Sunday of Advent hosts our informal “Hanging of the Greens” where our church family decorates the Sanctuary.  Two popular Christmas Eve services are at 5:00pm in the Sanctuary and 11:00pm in the Chapel.  One of the highlights of the Lenten Season is our somber Maundy Thursday service in the Sanctuary at 7:00pm.  The other is our community sunrise service shared by several churches in our neighborhood.
